Printer prints blank pages
Compare a printer-generated page, a Windows test page, and the document. The first point that prints blank determines what to investigate.

The printer’s own page is also blank
Investigate consumables and mechanism for the model, not Windows first.
The internal page works but the Windows page is blank
The Windows printing path becomes more relevant.
Windows prints correctly; one document or app fails
Compare the file and that application’s settings.
Diagnostic signals
- ObservationA local photocopy is also blank
- This makes Windows less likely as the primary cause, but the scanner adds another part to the path; confirm with an internal page.
Step-by-step solutions
Start with a page generated without the PC
This test separates the printing mechanism from data sent by Windows.
Use the model’s manual to print an internal test, configuration, or nozzle page where supported. Use supported paper and settings. Note whether it is completely blank or has some marks: those are different results.
On a compatible multifunction printer, a local copy also tests without a PC but can involve the scanner. If the internal page is blank, follow the printer branch. If correct, test Windows. If the model lacks that test, do not invent it: ask the manufacturer for an equivalent comparison.
Check model-specific consumables when the internal test fails
Output generated inside the printer does not depend on the Windows driver.
Check panel notices, consumable installation, and levels according to the manufacturer. An ink or toner reading does not prove the mechanism delivers material to paper. Distinguish inkjet from laser: do not apply printhead cleaning to a machine that does not use it.
Perform only basic checks and maintenance supported for that model. If nozzle cleaning is indicated, follow the manufacturer’s limits and compare the subsequent test. With no improvement, stop; do not chain cycles or buy cartridges by trial and error.
Compare the Windows test page
Once the printer has demonstrated correct local output, how it receives the PC job matters.
For the correct printer in Windows, open Printer properties and use Print Test Page. Check that you selected the intended model and queue, not a similarly named printer.
If this test is also blank but the internal page was correct, review paper configuration and the manufacturer’s compatible driver. Change one variable, retest, and keep the result. A relevant driver update makes more sense here than when the internal page already failed.
If no sheet emerges, the symptom has changed: use the related offline, detection, or queue guides. If it prints correctly, leave the driver alone and move to the document.
Isolate the document and application
A correct Windows page makes whole-printer repair less useful.
Create a simple non-private document in the affected app and review its preview, page range, and destination. Compare another known document or application using the same device. If only one file prints blank, investigate its content and options before reinstalling anything.
If several files fail only in that app, check its settings and official update or contact its support. If several apps fail while the Windows test stays correct, keep both observations for printing support: do not delete all queues.
Still not working?
Internal output blank after supported basic maintenance: manufacturer or service. Correct internal output but blank Windows output: printing-path support. One app or file only: support for that context. Do not keep spending ink or reinstalling without changing the hypothesis.
