Step-by-step solutions
Check power and connection
Windows discovery cannot replace a physical or network connection.
Confirm that the printer is on. For USB, seat both cable ends and try another PC port. If Windows reports a USB device error, use that related issue.
For Wi-Fi, check the network on the printer display or in its manual and compare it with the PC. Ask IT how to connect to a managed office printer.
Find the printer through Windows
Start with the built-in add-device flow.
Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device. Wait for discovery and select the correct model if it appears.
Microsoft documents failures with some manufacturer installers on ARM PCs: prefer this Windows flow unless the manufacturer provides specific guidance. Do not download packages from driver sites.
Run printer diagnostics
Keep the result if discovery still fails.
Open Get Help in Windows 11 and find the printer troubleshooter. Review proposed actions before accepting them, especially on a managed PC.
Record whether the printer never appears, fails while being added or is now installed. If its state becomes Offline, continue with the related issue instead of repeating installation.
Still not working?
Contact the manufacturer or IT with the exact model, Windows 11 architecture, connection type and Add device result. Do not remove shared printers or drivers as a generic experiment.
