Step-by-step solutions
Check the external connection
Rule out a hub or port before changing drivers.
Follow the storage warning, then connect directly to a compatible PC port.
For a mouse or keyboard, try another port without a hub. For USB-C, check that cable and port support the required function in the manual.
Read the Windows device status
Identify the device and actual code.
Open Device Manager and locate the device with a warning.
Open Properties and record status and code. For Code 43, follow that guide; for another code, use its official resolution.
Check accessory requirements
Use support for the exact model.
For a mouse or keyboard, test on another PC with its required driver before concluding it is faulty.
For other devices, check power, cable and driver requirements. Obtain software only from Windows Update or the manufacturer.

If it persists, give the maker the model, code and connections tested. For irreplaceable data on a drive, seek assessment before attempting repairs that write to it.
