ProblemFor saved data and PlayStation Plus cloud storage. This is not a game download or general console transfer. The newest timestamp does not prove which save you want to preserve.

PS5 saved data not syncing with cloud storage

Step-by-step solutions

01

Locate the last correct progress before synchronizing

Reconstructing the session protects the copy you actually want to keep.

  1. Record the console and account of the last correct session, whether you played offline, whether you closed the game, and whether the data is PS5 or PS4. Do not start new play sessions on another console while investigating a conflict.

  2. Check that the account has PlayStation Plus for cloud storage. For PS5 games, inspect View Sync Status under Sync Saved Data, or Check Sync Status of Saved Data from the game options. Record the state without confirming replacements.

  3. If general connectivity fails, use the PS5 internet guide. If you are transferring between consoles and see CE-112069-9, use its guide rather than this cloud path.

02

Inspect the console holding the recent session

An old cloud save after playing on A calls for checking A, not replacing its data from B.

  1. If console A holds the expected progress, preserve that copy and check whether the game is still open or status shows pending synchronization. Sony documents automatic synchronization when closing a game or entering rest mode with the required settings; that does not guarantee this session uploaded.

  2. Do not download an old copy over A just to clear the notice. Once the copy is identified, review supported options below. If you cannot establish what it contains, use the uncertainty branch before uploading or downloading.

03

Check what the cloud copy represents

The cloud can be correct when another console finished a session and synchronization.

  1. Relate available timestamps and status to the session you want to recover. Console B having old data does not by itself prove the cloud contains A’s progress; confirm history and account before choosing download.

  2. When you identify the cloud as the correct source, check which local save on B would be replaced. If it holds other valuable progress, do not discard it without a supported preservation method for that data type.

04

Inspect the game’s setting before changing it

An individual setting can explain why other games synchronize.

  1. In Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings, choose the correct data type and inspect individual settings. For PS5, Sony allows automatic synchronization to be enabled or disabled per game. If disabled only here, keep that finding before changing network settings.

  2. Also inspect automatic updates and Stay Connected to the Internet in Settings > System > Power Saving > Features Available in Rest Mode. Inspecting these options is safe; enabling synchronization when copies differ requires first deciding which to preserve.

05

Distinguish PS4 data from PS5 synchronization

Automatic upload does not mean another console already downloaded that save.

  1. For PS4 data on PS5, Sony documents automatic cloud upload and manual download to PS5 console storage. Do not interpret local absence as a failure of PS5-style two-way synchronization.

  2. Confirm game version, account, and the correct copy before proceeding with manual download. Do not assume PS4 and PS5 saves are interchangeable because the titles match.

06

Preserve the state if you cannot choose a copy confidently

Not resolving immediately is preferable to replacing valuable progress on instinct.

  1. Do not confirm uploads, downloads, or deletions, and avoid new sessions creating changes. Keep observations from each console and ask PlayStation about a supported preservation method for your data. Do not assume every PS5 save can be individually copied to USB.

  2. The timestamp helps reconstruct history, but a brief unwanted session can be newer than the progress you want. If you cannot distinguish them, stop here.

07

Confirm a transfer only with source and destination identified

Direction must follow the selected progress, not an automatic preference for the cloud.

  1. Only after identifying and protecting the valuable copy should you use Sony’s saved-data management to upload from console or download from cloud, selecting PS5 or PS4 as appropriate. Read what gets replaced before accepting. Do not select Delete to repair synchronization.

  2. If you decide to enable automatic synchronization, apply the same criterion and reviewed requirements. Wait for status to confirm the operation before switching consoles; check progress before continuing play. If it is missing or the conflict returns, stop new writes and contact support.

Next step

Still not working?

Persistent conflict or uncertainty about a valuable save: preserve data and consult PlayStation before overwriting. Provide source console, account, PS4/PS5 type, last session, and status; do not chain uploads and downloads.
