10Code 10 appears under Device status in Device Manager. It indicates that the device cannot start; Microsoft explains that a manufacturer may supply a more specific message. It does not automatically identify failed hardware or mean Windows itself cannot boot.

Step-by-step solutions
Identify the exact device
Target the entry reporting Code 10.
Open Device Manager from Start. Open the affected entry’s Properties and read Device status on General.
Record its name, complete message and driver version. If the code is 43, use the related issue; if there is only a USB notification without a code, use the USB guide.
Look for a compatible driver
Use Windows or the device/computer manufacturer.
In Properties > Driver, select Update Driver and follow the wizard. Finding no update does not prove that the hardware is healthy or faulty.
If the manufacturer offers a package for your model and Windows version, verify those details before installing it. Save your work and restart if requested, then check device status again.
Still not working?
If it persists, give the manufacturer the device name, complete Code 10 message and tested versions. Do not delete registry keys or uninstall every driver in a category.
