Error code
24

Code 24 can represent several states. Driver reinstallation is not a guaranteed fix, especially if the device was disconnected or prepared for removal.

Step-by-step solutions

01

Check whether the device should be available

Do not reinstall an entry just because the accessory is disconnected.

  1. For a removable device, check whether you disconnected it or prepared it for safe removal. To use it again, reconnect it properly when no operation is pending.

  2. For an internal device, do not open the computer as a test. Confirm the entry’s code and check its driver if it should be working.

02

Check the driver when the device is present

Physical absence and a missing driver need different checks.

  1. In the correct Device Manager entry, check whether a driver is missing. Use an official package compatible with the model and Windows when needed.

  2. Test the device afterward. If Code 28 or a specific USB error appears, follow that guide; do not keep reinstalling as though every Code 24 had the same cause.

Next step

Still not working?

If it keeps failing while it should be connected, ask the manufacturer to check that model. Mention whether it is removable and whether the error follows ejection; do not infer physical damage from the code alone.
