Check the alert and retry on the same network
Do not interrupt an installation already in progress.
Check whether it says it cannot check, download or connect to the internet. If Wi-Fi is required, join working Wi-Fi instead of repeatedly using mobile data.
Open a page to check internet access, then retry the update on the same network. If the alert concerns storage, check available space before repeating downloads.
Try another trusted network if it repeats
Change networks before starting another attempt, not during installation.
If checking or downloading fails again, connect to another trusted network with internet access and retry. Avoid networks with incomplete sign-in or that you are not authorized to use.
If only one network fails, address that connection. If several fail, consider a computer update rather than repeatedly changing network settings.

Use the computer update method
Prepare a backup before updating iOS.
Connect the iPhone to a trusted computer and follow Apple’s update method compatible with it: Mac or iTunes where applicable. Check stable power and connectivity.
Choose to update, not restore or erase the iPhone. Let the process finish without disconnecting it; if another error appears, keep that message for follow-up with Apple.

If a computer update also fails, contact Apple with the exact alert. Removing an earlier update download belongs to its specific procedure after repeated failures; do not blindly delete files or personal data.
