Step-by-step solutions
Check Wi-Fi in Settings
Verify Airplane Mode, network selection and range.
Open Settings, confirm Airplane Mode is off and open Wi-Fi. Turn Wi-Fi on, select your network and confirm its password if prompted.
Move closer to the router and look for the blue checkmark. If the Wi-Fi control is greyed out, restart the iPhone normally before checking again.
Check whether the problem follows the network
Compare only with known networks you are allowed to use.
Try another device on the same network and, if available, the iPhone on another known network. Record where it fails; do not use an unknown public network for the test.
For a managed VPN or security app, ask IT before changing it. If only one network fails, give the comparison to its administrator.
Restart without resetting configuration
Perform a normal restart, not a network-settings reset.
Save your work and restart the iPhone. If you manage the affected network, notify users and restart the router and modem following their manuals; wait for startup to finish.
Try the same network again. Do not press the router Reset button or reset iPhone settings as part of this step.
Still not working?
If Wi-Fi stays greyed out or the iPhone fails on different known networks, contact Apple with the model, iOS version and results. A network reset removes saved settings; it is outside this guide and requires first considering work networks, VPN settings and credentials.
