Error code

Sony states that the Blu-ray Disc could not be read. The code alone cannot distinguish a damaged disc from a console reading problem. Another compatible disc provides a useful comparison.

Step-by-step solutions

01

Check insertion and the disc surface

Follow the orientation specified for your PS5 model.

  1. Eject the disc normally. Check its orientation before reinserting it; do not force it.

  2. Look for fingerprints, dirt or scratches. A visible mark is an observation, not definitive proof of the cause.

02

Clean where appropriate and compare another disc

Leave the inside of the drive alone.

  1. For surface dirt, follow PlayStation’s disc-cleaning instructions. Do not use an abrasive method to try to remove scratches.

  2. Try another compatible Blu-ray Disc in good condition. Note whether only the first disc or every tested disc fails before requesting repair.

Next step

Still not working?

If only one disc fails, seek help for that disc. If none can be read, give PlayStation the code and tested discs. Do not open or internally clean the optical drive.
