Error code
CE-100002-3

CE-100002-3 indicates that an application update did not install correctly. It does not itself identify a system software fault or a damaged drive. Recording what was updating and where it failed avoids deleting a game when the problem is still at the download stage.

Step-by-step solutions

01

Identify stage and scope

Identify what failed without deleting data.

  1. Open Downloads/Uploads and note the failed operation without cancelling an active installation. Check whether other recent updates finished; do not download large games just for a test.

  2. If downloading is incomplete, follow the download branch. If it finished and one title fails to install, follow the app repair. If system software also fails, address its specific error first.

02

When downloading does not finish

  1. Check the download details and PlayStation status. During a confirmed interruption, wait; reinstalling cannot repair a transfer that cannot complete.

  2. If a space warning appears, review Settings > Storage and manage it using Sony’s guidance, protecting what you need. CE-100002-3 alone does not establish insufficient space. After resolving the download condition, use the available retry; this is different from deleting the installed app.

03

One title fails to install its update

  1. Save your game, finish active operations and restart PS5 normally once. Do not cut power. This checks whether the failure persists in a fresh session.

  2. If system software is pending, update it through Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings. Then check the title’s update through its options. If it works, stop; if only that title fails again, consider the limited reinstall below.

04

Separate shared and system failures

  1. Record affected titles and whether they use the same storage. Compare with updates that did finish. Several failing apps make a single installation an insufficient explanation, but do not prove drive failure.

  2. If the system update fails, keep its code and use Sony’s specific support before deleting apps. If the system is current and several titles still fail, contact support with that pattern; do not delete the whole library or reset the console.

05

If it returns after reinstalling

  1. Do not repeat the same deletion. Give PlayStation the title, system version, storage, exact stage and reinstall result. If the code changes, provide both codes in order.

  2. Recurrence no longer supports a repair based only on replacing that installation. Wait for a specific support-directed test before changing storage or system software.

Advanced checks

Continue if the earlier steps did not help. Read each procedure’s precautions first.

06

Reinstall only the isolated title

  1. Only if one app still fails after restart and the system check: confirm library or disc access and time to download it again. Verify a recoverable copy of important saves through Sony’s method for PS4 or PS5; do not assume all saves support individual USB copying.

  2. Select that app on Home > Options > Delete. Reinstall and update it once. Do not select Saved Data or Reset PS5. If it works, stop; if the error returns, follow the recurrence branch.

Next step

Still not working?

Stop if the error returns without new information. Give Sony the stage, titles, storage and completed tests; do not extend this procedure automatically into system software reinstallation.
