Check camera access in Settings
Change only available settings you are authorized to manage.
On Windows 11, check camera access and app permissions. On other versions, find Camera under privacy settings.

If access is off and you are allowed to manage it, enable permission for the intended app and test again. If marked managed or unavailable, do not force a change.
Check work or school management
Reinstalling the camera does not remove a managed restriction.
Check whether Windows says the organization manages the device or setting. Follow the camera-use policy on a work or school computer.
Do not disconnect the organization account or edit registry policies to bypass restrictions. If permissions are available and the error changes, follow the new state.
Still not working?
Ask IT to review managed access, specifying the app you need and the code. On a personal computer with no visible restrictions, contact Microsoft; do not run policy-unlocking scripts.
