Bluetooth connected but no sound
A connected accessory is not necessarily the audio output Windows is using. Check the selected output and volume first. This guide is not for pairing that never completes.

- ObservationAnother output plays audio
- If the PC speakers work, focus on the Bluetooth audio path and accessory.
- ObservationOnly one app is silent
- Check that app’s output and volume before changing pairing.
Step-by-step solutions
Select the Bluetooth output
Check that audio is not still going to a monitor or speakers.
Open Settings > System > Sound and select the Bluetooth headphones or speaker as the output.
Play known audio and raise Windows and accessory volume moderately. Make sure neither is muted.
Isolate an app-specific problem
Compare audio from two apps.
Try another player. If it works, check the original app’s volume, mute and output selection.
Check that app in the Windows volume mixer while it is playing. Avoid changing every device at once.
Reconnect the accessory
Pair again only if the output still fails.
Toggle Bluetooth off and on. If that does not help, remove that accessory in Bluetooth settings and add it again in pairing mode.
Select it again in Sound and test audio before opening more apps.
Advanced checks
Continue if the earlier steps did not help. Read each procedure’s precautions first.
Check drivers and audio support
Audio capabilities vary by accessory.
Run Bluetooth diagnostics in Get Help. If an update is indicated, use the adapter’s official driver for your Windows version and save your work before restarting.
If the device connects but never appears as an output, check its supported audio profiles with the manufacturer. Do not force formats Windows does not offer.
Still not working?
If other outputs fail too, continue with No sound in Windows. If only this accessory fails, give its manufacturer the accessory model, Bluetooth adapter and whether it appears in Sound.
