Step-by-step solutions
Toggle Wi-Fi and move closer to the router
Check the connection indicator after trying.
Open Settings > Network & internet or Connections. Turn Wi-Fi off and back on, move closer to the router and select your network.
If prompted for a password, confirm it with the administrator. Note whether it connects or asks for access again: these are different results for the next step.
Compare without confusing Wi-Fi and mobile data
Use two checks to locate the problem.
If your plan allows it, compare the same page over Wi-Fi and mobile data. Mobile data may incur charges; skip this check if unsure about your plan.
Try another device on the same network. If both fail over Wi-Fi, tell the administrator or provider; if only Android fails, keep the model and displayed message.
Restart the affected device normally
Avoid erasing settings for an initial check.
Save your work and restart the phone through its usual menu. Try the same network again.
If the network is affected and you manage its router, notify users and restart it following its manual. This interrupts everyone’s connection; do not use the factory-reset button.
Still not working?
If only the phone fails, contact its manufacturer with the model, Android version and whether another known network is affected. For school or work networks, ask the administrator without removing certificates or profiles.
