Step-by-step solutions

01

Wait and check whether only that page is affected

Avoid forcing it closed while an important operation may still finish.

  1. If the page was processing something, choose to wait when Chrome offers that option and check whether it responds again.

  2. Check whether other tabs respond. If control returns, save work before reloading; for one affected page, do not start by restarting the whole device.

Continue if the earlier steps did not help. Read each procedure’s precautions first.

02

Close the affected page if it does not recover

Use Chrome’s dialog to limit closing to that page.

  1. If it remains frozen, choose to close the affected page in the dialog and reopen its address. For forms, payments or account changes, verify the earlier result before submitting data again.

  2. If several pages repeatedly freeze, save work and restart Chrome normally. If it continues, also save work in other apps and restart the device.

Next step

Still not working?

If the same page always freezes, contact the site with the triggering step. If several sites freeze even after restarting, check Chrome updates and seek support without automatically blaming low memory.
