Windows doesn’t detect a second monitor
The main display works, but the second display is missing or blank. Distinguish a detected display using the wrong mode from a connection Windows cannot recognize. This is not a PC with no image from power-on.

Step-by-step solutions
Choose Extend
Rule out the wrong projection mode.
Press Windows + P and choose Extend.
Check whether the second display shows part of the desktop. If it still has no signal, check its input and connection.
Test the input and a direct cable
Isolate the monitor, cable and external adapters.
Check monitor power and select the input matching the cable. With the PC shut down, secure the cable; try a known-working alternative if available.
Test the display on a compatible video output without a dock or intermediate adapters. Note whether another computer recognizes it.
Check display support limits
Verify the configuration supported by the PC.
Check the GPU’s supported display count and the dock’s capabilities for the ports in use.
A splitter duplicating one signal does not create two independent desktops. If each display works alone but not together, check these limits before buying hardware.

Review a recent driver change
If this setup worked before, check the update that coincided with the failure.
In Device Manager open Display adapters and the GPU properties. If the failure began after an update, check whether Roll Back Driver is available.
If it is unavailable, consult official PC or GPU support for a compatible driver. Do not uninstall the only adapter as the first test.
Still not working?
Record models, ports, resolution and the direct-connection result for manufacturer support. If no display shows an image from power-on, use PC turns on but no display instead.
