Step-by-step solutions
Restart Windows and test the device
Finish pending operations and save documents first.
Choose Restart from Start and wait for Windows to become available. Do not cut power to force a restart.
Test the device and check its state in Device Manager. If it works and the code has cleared, do not reinstall drivers because of that isolated event.

If Code 44 returns, contact the manufacturer or IT with the affected device and when it stops. Recurrence calls for checking that device and related software; do not disable unfamiliar services or assume hardware damage.
